Introduction
Large-area detector with outstanding dynamic range and exceptional frame rate
WidePIX CHROMATIC 25 (formerly WidePIX 5×5 MPX3)It provides a Medipix3 chip with a large-area sensitive region. The detector's sensor surface is arranged as a square array of 25 hybrid detector electronic chip units, comprising a total of 1,638,400 pixels (70x70mm). These units are mounted on a cadmium telluride sensor.
The device can capture up to 170 frames per second and streams data at a rate of 5 gigabits per second. All detection units are fully synchronized and compatible with external triggering.
The main advantage of the WidePIX CHROMATIC 25 lies in its outstanding dynamic range. Thanks to its ability to detect energies above 8 keV and its 24-bit counter depth, each pixel can record up to 16,777,216 counts. This enables users to perform inspections under high X-ray flux without concerns about image overexposure.
Since the sensor has no dark current, precise data acquisition and clear image quality are ensured. The development of the WidePIX CHROMATIC 25 prioritized sensitivity. With its wide field of view, the device is highly suitable for imaging and differentiating biological tissues and other lightweight materials. This makes it ideal for medical CT, non-destructive testing, and imaging of moving objects.
The detector supports a dual-threshold measurement mode, enabling the acquisition of spectrally sensitive color images in a single measurement.
The charge summation mode (CSM) integrated in the pixel electronic circuit provides hardware-based correction for inter-pixel charge diffusion, further significantly enhancing the detector's spectral response performance and the quality of single-pixel spectral measurements.
The camera connects to a computer via five Ethernet cables.
